Bird Lab Torino investigates bird ecology across alpine and urban environments. In mountain systems, we study the breeding and migratory ecology of the Northern Wheatear (Oenanthe oenanthe), the effects of natural disturbances and anthropogenic pressures on bird assemblages, and the fine-scale habitat and microclimatic drivers of reproductive success. In urban environments, we examine how bird communities vary across the urban gradient, how land-use and park management strategies shape biodiversity, and the ecological impacts of alien bird species at multiple spatial scales. Across all our research, we are committed to linking ecological and social dimensions of biodiversity, including through citizen science initiatives aimed at making cities more equitable and nature-friendly.
